AT&T certified under PS-Prep receives DHS recognition for achievement.

Acton, MA (PRWEB) April 04, 2012

NQA, USA was selected by AT&T to conduct the audit for the first PS-Prep Certification, the initiative of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). PS-Prep Certification is a voluntary organizational preparedness initiative with the goal of enhancing nationwide resilience in an all-hazards environment by encouraging Private Sector Preparedness (PS-Prep). PS-Prep covers a variety of subjects, including risk assessment and business impact analysis, incident management, emergency response, and business continuity programs.

AT&T's Corporate Business Continuity Planning organization (C-BCP) provided documentation for their established Business Continuity Management Program. Such preparations were then subject to review and audit by NQA, USA as part of a management system certification audit conducted in November 2011. Furthermore, as the initial such certification, NQA, USA was directly reviewed and subsequently approved and accredited by the DHS-contracted accreditation body the ANAB.

Under the management system model NQA, USA deemed AT&T's Business Continuity Management System to be compliant with the selected PS-Prep standard and will continue to monitor compliance and improvement of the organization's preparedness. The AT&T C-BCP and any other future PS-Prep certified organizations will be listed on a public register in recognition of this achievement.

With an ever-increasing reliance on private sector entities combined with the negative effects of even minor business disruptions, it is predicted that such organizational preparedness planning and independent verification will become an important factor for many individual organizations and multi-vendor supply chains in the future.
