BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

More than 50 members of the Novarica Insurance Technology Research Council, a moderated knowledge-sharing community for insurer CIOs and senior IT executives, met last week to discuss the unique issues they face as CIOs in the industry. Today, Novarica published a new report presenting some of the key points from these discussions along with relevant Novarica research. The report is online at www.novarica.com/2012CouncilMeetingReport.

“The Novarica Council event is the only place where the door is shut and CIOs from around the industry speak openly and honestly about how to solve real world problems...without being pitched hard by sales folks,” said council member Stuart Tainsky, CIO of PURE, a property-casualty insurer that serves owners of high value homes.

Council members at the meeting represented a wide swath of the industry, from top-tier multinationals and national insurers to regionals and start-ups, across all lines of life/annuity/benefits and property/casualty, including specialty and workers comp. The full Council has over 300 members, from nearly 300 North American insurers across the entire industry. More information on the council is online at www.novarica.com/council.

Impact Awards

Also at the meeting, Novarica announced the Novarica Research Council Impact Awards (www.novarica.com/2012impact), which will honor best practices across a broad range of areas important to insurer CIOs, including innovation, business impact, efficiency, and others.

Novarica will be collecting case studies from Council members and other insurers throughout Q2 which will be reviewed by a nominating committee of 11 Council members, including: Andy Wood (Wilton Re), Dan Simpson (Trustmark), Eric Bulis (SBLI USA), Larry Fortin (Millers Mutual Group ), Mark Berthiaume (Chubb), Pete Moreau (Amica), Piyush Singh (Great American Insurance Company), Reuben Broadfoot (LifeMap), Sal Abano (Tower Insurance), Stuart Tainsky (PURE), and Tim Billow (ING).

Case studies selected by the nominees will be voted on by the full council in Q3, making the Novarica Research Council Impact Awards the largest peer-juried award in the industry. The awards will be handed out this fall. More information and submission forms are online at www.novarica.com/2012impact/.
