Primus Business Services Selects Computer Room Services Corporation as Design Consultant and General Contractor for new Tier 3 Data Centre in Toronto

Computer Room Services Corporation (CRSC) has been awarded the role of Design Consultant and General Contractor for a new 30,000sq.ft. data centre for Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc., to be located in Markham. "Our strategic design-build partnership with Primus has spanned more than a decade, with this Markham project representing the eighth data centre we have designed and built for them," comments Greg Eaton, Principal of CRSC. "With the demands of data centre end-users increasing, designs need to continue to be more advanced and innovative to ensure 100% uptime within the facility."

The Primus Markham data centre is truly a state-of-the-art facility in Canada and will be designed to meet elevated industry standards such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification and Uptime Institute Tier III classification. These standards will be met by incorporating innovative design, high efficiency and redundant equipment with continuous maintainability. The commitment to efficiency is demonstrated in the selection of an innovative cooling system which will optimize free-cooling while significantly reducing energy and water consumption.

The Tier III classification requires redundant equipment which provides continuous power and cooling to the IT equipment. A key component of Tier III is concurrent maintainability whereby individual equipment can be maintained and/or bypassed without impacting critical uptime - which is vital to Primus clients. Maintaining all equipment properly ensures maximum reliability and functionality of the data centre, while improving the life span of the equipment.
