Execution LLC Launches Options Trading Capability

Execution LLC, an agency-only broker, today announced that it has launched an options trading platform. The new offering is led by John Margolis, who joined Execution in May 2009 from Thomson Financial, where he had a 20-year career in technology and trading.

With the addition of the options trading capability, Execution continues to differentiate itself as a leading institutional broker with a high-touch, customer-focused model, operating in a “velvet rope” environment on a platform free of proprietary trading conflicts. The new options group will offer unique smart routing, high-quality order execution, liquidity sourcing, and complex option execution strategies, including a low cost buy-side direct market access offering. As head of the options capability, Margolis will focus on building out the platform in the U.S. to deliver valuable offerings to clients.

The options trading platform will function in concert with the Global Derivatives Group, which was recently rolled out. Both capabilities complement the firm’s existing global equity research and execution strategies concentrating on U.S., European, and Asian equities.

Execution plans to further build out the options capability with opportunistic hires over the coming year. In addition, the firm will be launching U.S. futures trading capability before the end of the year.

“As clients have become more interested in other asset classes, we realized there was an opportunity to offer options trading to them with the same high-touch service that we have always provided on the equity side,” Margolis said.
