LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

BTIG LLC, a broker dealer specializing in institutional trading and related brokerage services, today announced the addition of five new sales traders to its growing London-based team. Adrian Maydew, Raphael Levy, Paul Benton, Greg Levett and Alex Clegg have joined BTIG in London to enhance its Event Driven product and European sales and trading platform.

“Adrian, Raphael, Paul, Greg and Alex bring significant knowledge and experience to our London team in both event-driven and pan-European sales and trading,” said Gary Hayes, CEO of BTIG in Europe. “As we continue to extend our product offerings in Europe, these new hires will provide our institutional clients with valuable event driven expertise and insight.”

Maydew joins BTIG from ABN Amro/RBS after seven years as a Director in the Event Driven proprietary trading team. His team managed EUR2.5billion investing in merger arbitrage, dual listings, share classes and long/short equity trading. Maydew graduated from the University of Reading with a degree in Finance. His buyside perspective will be a valuable resource in covering BTIG’s European clients.

Levy joins BTIG from Pali International where he was a Director specializing in equity sales-trading to large institutions. Levy has also held various positions with Bancaire Privee (UBP) in Geneva and Societe Generale Group. He is a graduate of ISG Business School in Paris.

Benton joins BTIG as an Event Driven Trader from Pali International where he was a Sales Trader in the European Event Driven product. Prior to that, he was a proprietary trader at Bear Stearns and ING Bank. Benton is a graduate of the London School of Economics.

Levett joins BTIG as an Event Driven Sales Trader from Pali International where he spent two and a half years as a Sales Trader developing the Event Driven product. He was also responsible for producing the firm's daily notes to clients. Levett has also held a sales role at Bryan Garnier in London and was a financial journalist for AFX News and S&P Marketscope. Levett will strengthen BTIG’s current efforts in providing its clients with relevant and insightful market intelligence in London.

Clegg joins BTIG after nearly five years at Pali International as a Sales Trader on the Event Driven team. Clegg had previously worked at Mirabaud in London. He has a degree in History and Art History from Oxford Brookes University.

BTIG’s London office is led by Gary Hayes, a 25-year industry veteran and former Managing Director at Merrill Lynch in both London and New York. BTIG’s London office was opened in December 2008 and now has 25 professionals. The new hires are part of a coordinated global growth initiative at BTIG. Recently, BTIG has also opened an office in Singapore, hired additional senior professionals in its Hong Kong and Australian offices, launched a Fixed Income Group with more than 75 professionals, and expanded its prime brokerage team in the US.
