HilltopSecurities' Capital Markets Makes Strategic Appointments to MBS Trading and Sales

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Hilltop Securities Inc.'s (HTS) Capital Markets business continues to expand its mortgage-backed securities (MBS) trading and sales group across the country, and recently completed a series of strategic hires and promotions in its New York, Chicago and Dallas offices. Chris Paternoster, Jeff Arnier, Brian Bowes and Carl Schref recently joined the firm's MBS trading and sales groups, while Joe Vendemia has been promoted to Mortgage Sales Manager.

Chris Paternoster will serve as Managing Director with the firm's MBS trading group in New York, trading Agency CMOs, prime jumbo and Alt-A non-agency products, and Jeff Arnier will serve as a Trading Assistant at the firm's Dallas headquarters.

Brian Bowes and Carl Schref will serve as Managing Directors with the firm's MBS sales group in New York and Chicago, respectively, bringing with them long-established relationships that complement the business' existing sales effort.

Current Managing Director Joe Vendemia will now serve as the Mortgage Sales Manager, focusing on broadening client coverage and directing the department's objective to recruit top-tier talent to the sales group, while continuing to cover accounts.

Chris Paternoster joins HilltopSecurities from Cantor Fitzgerald where he served as a Senior Managing Director on the mortgage desk. Throughout his eight years at Cantor, he helped build and expand their CMO trading and sales business. Prior to his time with Cantor, Paternoster worked at UBS and Paine Webber.

Jeff Arnier joins HilltopSecurities from Goldman Sachs, where he served as an analyst in their residential mortgage analytics and commercial real estate portfolio analytics groups since 2014. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Northwestern University.

Brian Bowes joins the firm from the structured products sales group at Stormharbour Securities. Prior to that, he traded non-agency RMBS at KGS-Alpha and headed the residential loan securitization conduit at UBS.

Carl Schref joins the firm from Cantor Fitzgerald. He has served in sales positions at Lehman Brothers, UBS, Banc of America Securities and was Senior Vice President in fixed income sales at Lehman Brothers in the 1990s. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
