Werner Enterprises Named a 2016 Green Supply Chain Partner

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Werner Enterprises WERN, a premier transportation and logistics provider, recently was named a 2016 Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics magazine. Werner was recognized as an organization that focuses on sustainability and will be profiled in a special G75 issue of Inbound Logistics, featuring the 75 leading companies for green supply chain management and logistics partners.

"To be recognized as a Green Supply Chain Partner is not only an honor, but also a positive indication that our sustainability initiatives align with our goals to improve the environment," said President and CEO Derek Leathers.

Werner has made significant contributions toward a cleaner, more energy-efficient environment by conserving more than 150 million gallons of fuel since 2007 and reducing its carbon footprint by more than 1.7 million tons. The company incorporates industry-leading sustainability efforts into its business model, including installing diesel-fired heating systems to reduce truck idle time, utilizing aerodynamic trucks, equipping trailers with trailer skirts, using tire inflation systems and implementing the newest diesel technology.

The 75 Green Supply Chain Partners list honors organizations that demonstrate green best practices in their supply chain, logistics and transportation operations. Companies were considered for their corporate sustainability initiatives, collaborative customer-driven projects and participation in public-private partnerships. This year's 75 Green Supply Chain Partners list will be profiled in the June 2016 print issue of Inbound Logistics and online at www.inboundlogistics.com.
