Chicago banking leader to offer free financial education classes.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 19, 2016

For the ninth year, MB Financial Bank is participating in the Federal Reserve Bank Money Smart Week campaign, April 23-30. Launched in 2002, Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign dedicated to helping consumers better manage their personal finances. The program consists of public and private partner organizations offering thousands of free classes, seminars and other educational activities.

"Increasing financial literacy has always been a top priority for MB," said Karen Thomas, senior vice president, community development, MB Financial Bank. "MB is proud of our ability to meet these community needs, year after year, by providing free resources through partnerships like Money Smart Week."

During its seminars, MB Financial Bank will cover critical financial topics such as the importance of saving, how to avoid credit card misuse, identity theft, the basics of home buying. Among the organizations partnering with MB to offer these programs include the Village of Glenwood Senior Center, Chicago, Evanston, Garfield Ridge, North Riverside, Berwyn, and LaGrange Park public libraries, Claretian Associates, Arab American Family Services, Aquinas Literacy Center, The Resurrection Project, St. Paul Ha Sang Korean Saturday School, Spanish Coalition for Housing, St. Andrews the Apostle Church and Pivotal Staffing (view schedule below).

"Money Smart Week began as a coordinated effort among a small group of Chicago-area organizations working to promote financial literacy," says Alejo Torres, Senior Outreach Manager, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. "Today, Money Smart Week continues to expand nationally, providing greater awareness of, and access to, personal finance resources for all."
