A.M. Best Assigns Indicative Ratings to CNA Financial Corporation's New Shelf Registration

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

A.M. Best has assigned indicative ratings of "bbb" to senior unsecured debt, "bbb-" to senior subordinated debt, "bb+" to junior subordinated debt and "bb+" to preferred stock of the recently filed shelf registration of CNA Financial Corporation (CNAF) (headquartered in Chicago, IL) CNA. The outlook assigned to each rating is stable.

The assigned ratings, for securities that may be issued under the shelf registration statement, are consistent with the current ratings of CNAF's outstanding securities. The new shelf registration replaces CNAF's previous shelf registration, which expired April 5, 2016. Consequently, the indicative ratings for the previous shelf registration have been withdrawn.
