New Tuition-Free Virtual Public School Approved to Serve Arkansas Students in Grades K-9

Arkansas Connections Academy is now enrolling students for the 2016-2017 school year

Bentonville, AR (PRWEB) March 08, 2016

Arkansas Connections Academy, a full-time statewide virtual public charter school, has been approved by the Arkansas Charter Authorizing Panel and State Board of Education to begin serving students in grades K-9 statewide in the 2016-2017 school year. Enrollment is now open for up to 600 students across Arkansas.

"Online learning is about providing high quality educational options for families all over Arkansas – even in areas that are hard to reach," said Dr. Dennis Beck, chair and founding board member of Arkansas Connections Academy. "We are privileged to have the opportunity to give every child in Arkansas equal access to a high quality public education that meets their individual learning needs."

The new public school will deliver a tuition-free, technology-enhanced school online to K-9 students across Arkansas. Interested families are encouraged to attend an upcoming information session in-person or online to find out if virtual school is the right fit for their students.

The academy will combine Arkansas certified teachers, an award-winning curriculum, technology tools, engaging electives, and social experiences to create a supportive and successful online learning program for families and students. Learning from home or anywhere there is an Internet connection, students will work closely with Arkansas-licensed teachers using detailed daily lesson plans that are aligned with Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks and can be personalized to meet individual student needs. A parent, or another adult "Learning Coach," monitors student progress. As a public school, there are no fees or tuition to attend and all students are required to take the same state assessments as traditional public school students. Arkansas Connections Academy will begin serving students in grades K-9 in the fall of 2016 and an additional grade will be added each subsequent school year.

Arkansas Connections Academy is governed by a Board of Directors composed of Arkansas residents, while its curriculum and other services will be contracted through Connections Education, a leading provider of high-quality; highly accountable online learning that has been supporting schools for over a decade. Connections Education is accredited by AdvancED.
