Ventas Announces Tax Treatment of 2015 Cash Distributions

Ventas, Inc. VTR ("Ventas" or the "Company") announced today the tax treatment of its 2015 cash distributions. The following table summarizes, for income tax purposes, the nature of the cash distributions paid by the Company to stockholders during the year ended December 31, 2015 and the appropriate 1099DIV box number:

None of the 2015 cash dividends are considered to be a capital gain distribution or a return of capital (i.e. non-taxable distribution). Stockholders are encouraged to consult their own tax advisors regarding the tax consequences of these distributions.

Separately, on August 17, 2015, the Company completed its spin-off (the "Spin-Off") of Care Capital Properties, Inc ("CCP"). Following the Spin-Off, the combined cash dividends of CCP and VTR increased by 10 percent from their prior level on an aggregate basis. VTR's dividend went from $0.79 per share to $0.73 per share to account for the Spin-Off, and CCP's third quarter dividend was $0.57 per share ($0.1425 per share on a pre Spin-Off 1:4 adjustment basis).
