Agilent Technologies Showcases Innovations in Food Analysis at International Symposium in Prague

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Agilent Technologies Inc. A today announced it will focus on areas of emerging concern in food safety at the Seventh International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis, Nov. 3-6, in Prague.

RAFA 2015 will feature seminars and workshops conducted by leading scientists from around the world, including some Agilent customers. Agilent is also hosting two lunchtime seminars in which both company scientists and collaborators will present. Some of Agilent's most recent products will be featured in those talks.

"At Agilent we're continually developing new methodologies in areas of emerging concern in food safety—and optimizing turnkey solutions for more mature applications," said John Lee, Agilent's global food market manager. "RAFA gives us the chance to tell top scientists what we're doing, and it allows us to learn more about their concerns so that we can focus our energies where they are needed most."

Agilent's lunchtime seminars, Nov. 4 and 5, will cover the topic of nanoparticle analysis in food and personal care products. The effects of ingesting nanoparticles, used in many of these products, are currently unknown.

For analysis of veterinary drugs and pesticides in food, Agilent will showcase new and novel sample-preparation technology, showing how challenging food matrices can be handled more easily than in the past.

The products Agilent will be showcasing are all designed to improve analytical performance in food-safety laboratories. They include:

Agilent Bond Elut Enhanced Matrix Removal-Lipid: Solution incorporates an innovative sorbent technology that fits neatly into a QuEChERS workflow to effectively remove lipid co-extractives from high-fat foods without compromising the recovery of target compounds. As a result, analyses can be more selective and reliable, and instrument maintenance can be reduced.

Agilent 7900 Quadrupole ICP-MS: System delivers superior data quality with robust hardware and powerful software.

Agilent 6545 Quadrupole Time of Flight LC/MS: System incorporates hardware and software innovations to enhance quality, improve instrument robustness and increase overall performance.

Agilent 6470 Triple Quadrupole LC/MS: System provides improved sensitivity, precision and scan speed, enabling laboratories to streamline analytical workflows.

The Agilent 5977B GC/MSD: System enables scientists to detect trace levels of target compounds at levels up to 10 times lower than with any other GC/MS system today. For routine applications, labs are able to improve operating profit and reduce cost by using up to 10 times less sample with undiminished data quality.

Agilent 8255/8355 Nitrogen and Sulfur Chemiluminescence Detectors: The completely redesigned detectors represent the first major advance in nitrogen/sulfur chemiluminescence detection in 25 years, making the technology more reliable and easier to use.
