NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Wall St. Analyst's (SEBI Reg. # INH200000147) (www.wallstanalyst.com) ‘Oil Screener' looks at oil prices performance as they trade off the psychological benchmark of $100 a barrel since the second half of 2014 following a few years of rather steady trading between 2010 and the first half of last year. In a nutshell, oil prices are currently trading below $50 a barrel, impacted mainly by demand and supply extremes; oversupply versus low demand. In today's publication our head analyst also provides a brief technical analysis of the following oil companies as they trade in bearish territory: Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. PTEN, Bill Barrett Corp. BBG, California Resources Corporation CRC, Triangle Petroleum Corporation (NYSE MKT: TPLM), and Comstock Resources Inc. CRK. Sign up now for the free oil stocks coverage at:

On Thursday, October 01, 2015, oil prices spiked during the trading session. However, prices were not able to sustain an upward move and ended lower for the day amid weaker U.S. manufacturing data and news that Hurricane Joaquin could be a threat to the U.S. East coast. U.S. crude's fell from $100 a barrel in summer 2014 to trade in $45 range in recent days, and this has left drillers short of cash and burdened with half a trillion dollars in debt. Production has certainly surged in the last decade as technological advances were pushed by the demand appetite for markets like China. But the oil boom contributed to a global oversupply of crude.
