LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Symmetry Electronics, a worldwide leader in wireless, video, and embedded connectivity distribution, and Lattice Semiconductor Corporation LSCC, the leading provider of customizable smart connectivity solutions, announced the signing of a new distribution agreement for Symmetry to offer the full line of Lattice products. This agreement follows Lattice's acquisition of Symmetry supplier Silicon Image in March 2015.

Lattice Semiconductor offers smart connectivity solutions by bridging the gap between programmable connectivity and wired and wireless connectivity. The MHL®, HDMI®, and 60GHz millimeter wave RF expertise gained in the Silicon Image acquisition pairs brilliantly with Lattice's innovative FPGAs, featuring smaller packages, lower power requirements, and lower cost. Instead of a waterfall process to slim down from the needs of the highest-end, most complex architecture, Lattice focuses on building more efficient FPGAs and scaling up as necessary. This new breed of FPGAs offer a new option to customers who might not realize their designs could benefit from an FPGA, often due to the traditional limitations of size, complexity, and cost.

"We are thrilled to partner with Lattice Semiconductor and offer Lattice's smart connectivity solutions," said Gil Zaharoni, founder and CEO of Symmetry Electronics. "Combining Lattice's exceptional connectivity products and Symmetry's technical support will allow Symmetry to continue providing first-rate connectivity solutions to our customers."

"The Lattice FPGA products are small, fast, and easy to use. The programmable USB Type-C connector device is a great example of combining programming flexibility with the latest USB connectivity standards," said David Beck, Symmetry's VP of Marketing. "Most engineers assume that a small microcontroller is their only option for including simple programmability. We want to show engineers that using Lattice FPGAs provides a flexible, low cost hardware solution."
