Barnes & Noble Invites Customers to Celebrate the Release of The Day the Crayons Came Home, Companion Book to the Bestselling The Day the Crayons Quit, in a National Storytime Event August 22

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the nation's largest retail bookseller and a leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, today announced a national Storytime event at stores nationwide on Saturday, August 22, at 11 a.m., celebrating the bestselling picture book The Day the Crayons Quit and its highly anticipated companion book, The Day the Crayons Came Home, written by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers.

This year's Storytime event follows the success of last year's month-long "Don't Let the Crayons Quit!" Barnes & Noble campaign in September, during which more than 105,000 heartfelt letters, lists and artwork from children and adults to the Crayons were collected.

Every Crayon needs a place to call home and at the Storytime event participants will build and decorate a Cardboard Box Crayon Fort. Coloring and other activities will round out the fun.

During the special Storytime, parents and children may enjoy readings of the popular books via both hardcover and on NOOK® by Samsung, a full-featured Android tablet that combines Samsung's leading technology and NOOK's extraordinary content and reading experience.

"We are excited to host a Storytime for children eager to return to the world of the Crayons, and to connect with their favorite Crayon characters again," said Sarah DiFrancesco, Vice President, Business Development for Barnes & Noble. "The Crayons' stories encourage children nationwide to push the boundaries of their imaginations."

During Barnes & Noble Storytime readings and activities, parents and guardians are encouraged to take pictures and post to their personal social media sites using the hashtag #BNStorytime.

Barnes & Noble Storytimes are free and open to the public. All events are subject to change. Customers should visit the Barnes & Noble Store Locator (www.bn.com/storelocator) for more information about events at their local store.
