DRESDEN, GERMANY--(Marketwired - Aug. 4, 2015) - ZMD AG (ZMDI), an award-winning global semiconductor company headquartered in Dresden, Germany, and specializing in enabling energy-efficient digital power and sensing solutions, today announces a 10 mio USD licensing agreement with Altera Corporation ALTR to enable the expansion of their Enpirion Power Management offering through the licensing of ZMDI's world-leading power management technology to focus on advanced digital control power ICs. This licensing signed by Altera, (a subsidiary of Intel, which acquired Altera in June 2015) recognizes ZMDI's digital power technology as the most advanced and forward-looking in the market today.

"ZMDI digital power solutions have been achieving recognition from many customers and most recently via an award with a leading producer of base stations for being the best solution in the market, and we are excited that Altera is not only buying our power products but has also licensed the technology from ZMDI to complement their expansive power portfolio and increase the capabilities and adaptability of their Enpirion power products to address the needs of high-performance FPGAs and SoC FPGAs," said Thilo von Selchow, CEO of ZMDI. Mr. von Selchow further stated, "We are working with other market leading companies to develop further licensing agreements so as to further share the technology across other industries and sectors."

"This licensing agreement with Altera is a recognition of ZMDI's Power Management strategy and will not preclude us from continuing to serve and support customers' needs for the most advanced digital power solutions," according to Mr. Frantz Saintellemy, President ZMD America Inc. and Exec VP Worldwide Sales. He further commented, "At ZMDI, we have made significant research and development (R&D) investments over the years to achieve optimal product performance, programmability, ease-of-use, flexibility and scalability while ensuring lowest system power solutions costs. We will continue to invest in expanding our digital power product families and IP portfolio while pushing the performance boundaries to exceed the expectations of the market and our customers." Mr. Saintellemy continued, "We are very proud of the recognition of ZMDI's digital power as being best-in-class by Altera through this agreement, and we look forward to the exciting innovations that will occur through this collaboration."

Mr. Ed Lam, VP of ZMDI's Digital Power Business Line, added, "Utilizing the ZMDI digital power technology, the business line has released several new products including our new suite of standard easy-to-use product families, which include most recently the ZSPM15XX series, a family comprised of pre-configured ICs that provide power solutions for bus voltages from 0.85V to 5.0V and maximum load currents up to 40A depending on the voltage.
