Microsoft (MSFT) slightly positive ahead of massive layoffs

Shares of Microsoft Corp. MSFT gained 0.3% to $44.45, after a report in the New York Times that the software giant is expected to announce a major round of new layoffs as early as Wednesday. Share volume was 17.8 million, compared to an all-day average of 34.1 million.
