Mondelēz International and Terra Technology Co-present at Health and Personal Care Logistics Conference

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Terra Technology today announced that Joseph Tuturice, Associate Director of Transportation Development and Vendor Management at Mondelēz International and Robert F. Byrne, CEO of Terra Technology will present "Transportation Capacity Planning" at the 2015 Spring Health and Personal Care Logistics Conference. The presentation will be held in Philadelphia on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 2:45 PM and will focus on ways healthcare logistics can benefit from best practices in the fast-moving consumer goods industry.

The theme of the conference is Transformational Logistics: Addressing the "Capacity Crunch" through Change and Innovation. With transportation utilization near 100%, market volatility and shrinking lead times in the health and personal care sector make it harder than ever for shippers to cost effectively secure capacity and maintain service commitments. Although transportation accounts for roughly 10% of cost of goods sold, forward planning is mostly done on spreadsheets with little visibility beyond immediate execution, trapping planners in a reactive cycle.

Tuturice will discuss how Mondelēz International uses Terra's Transportation Forecasting software to break this cycle and provide forward visibility with accurate freight forecasts by lane, mode and temperature class. This allows Mondelēz International to better manage seasonal and promotional surges, proactively collaborate with preferred carriers to ensure capacity at contractual rates and provide a higher level of customer service.

"According to McKinsey, the healthcare sector can improve margins by $130 billion by adopting supply chain advances from other industries," said Robert F. Byrne, CEO of Terra Technology. "Rethinking transportation planning is an area ripe for transformation," adds Byrne.
