Zinging Benzinga's Praises

I learned a lot at Benzinga - perhaps not how to avoid terrible puns, but probably just about everything else that matters. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect from Benzinga at first. I wore a suit to my first interview, which despite being a cheap, off-the-rack two piece, I think made me the most well-dressed person at Benzinga that day (though Jay Wong was looking sharp in his suit, he wasn't wearing a tie). Of course, I quickly learned the actual dress code and started wearing hoodies everyday. I also learned that for being a fast-paced, startup media company, Benzinga is remarkably laid back. People here have fun while they're at work and are clearly passionate about what they do. That's how it should be. What I loved the most about this internship was the opportunities Benzinga gave me. I was really able to stretch myself as both an editor and writer and to do stuff that really mattered. Sure, sometimes because of that freedom I made some mistakes, but they were all great learning experiences. And other times, that same freedom allowed me to have successes that surprised even me. As my internship at Benzinga draws to a close, I think what I'll miss most are the people here. It was a joy coming in every day, and I feel like got two or three semesters worth of education out of this internship. Without a doubt, it was an invaluable experience that I would recommend to any of my journalism peers looking for an internship. And with that, I'd like to conclude by saying, "rock on, Benzinga!" You people are building something special, brick by brick, even if you don't always see it on a day-to-day basis.
