Some of the stocks that may grab investor focus today are:

  • Oracle Corporation ORCL reported weaker-than-expected results for its first quarter and issued a downbeat profit forecast for the current quarter. The company posted adjusted earnings of $0.55 per share on revenue of $8.6 billion. Analysts projected a profit of $0.58 per share on revenue of $8.7 billion. Oracle shares dropped 3.21 percent to $39.55 in the after-hours trading session.
  • Shares of Novavax, Inc. NVAX tumbled around 80 percent in pre-market trading, after reporting disappointing results from two Phase 3 vaccine trials that had previously done well in the Phase 2 trial. According to the company, data from the Resolve Phase 3 trial for its vaccine for a potentially deadly respiratory virus didn't meet the efficacy objectives it had set. Novavax shares dipped 79.86 percent to $1.68 in pre-market trading.

  • Apollo Investment Corp. AINV disclosed that it has expanded its stock repurchase program from $100 million to $150 million. Apollo Investment shares rose 3 percent to $6.19 in the after-hours trading session.
  • S&W Seed Company SANW posted better-than-expected results for its fourth quarter on Thursday. S&W Seed shares surged 9.11 percent to $5.15 in the after-hours trading session.
  • Shares of Depomed Inc DEPO surged more than 12 percent in after-hours trading after Reuters reported that the company is exploring a sale on pressure from Starboard Value LP. Depomed shares climbed 12.71 percent to $23.94 in after-hours trading.
