Shares of Juniper Networks, Inc. JNPR plunged more than 8 percent on Tuesday, sending shockwaves across the networking sector.
Juniper Networks reported its first-quarter preliminary results after Monday's market close. The company said it expects to earn $0.35 to $0.37 per share in the quarter on revenue of $1.09 billion to $1.10 billion.
The company previously guided its earnings per share to be in a range of $0.42 to $0.46 and revenue to be in a range of $1.150 billion to $1.190 billion.

Shares of Palo Alto Networks Inc PANW performed slightly better than its peers and were lower by around 1.76 percent, and shares of Cisco Systems, Inc. CSCO were lower by around 0.62 percent.
On the other hand, shares of Barracuda Networks Inc CUDA were higher by nearly 2 percent.
