Mid-Afternoon Market Update: US Stocks Turn Positive; TravelCenters of America Shares Drop Following Q4 Results

Toward the end of trading Monday, the Dow traded up 0.30 percent to 17,265.33 while the NASDAQ gained 0.21 percent to 4,758.56. The S&P also rose, gaining 0.05 percent to 2,023.11. Leading and Lagging Sectors On Monday, cyclical consumer goods & services shares gained by 0.41 percent. Top gainers in the sector included Kandi Technologies Group Inc KNDI, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc HOT, and Lifetime Brands Inc LCUT. In trading on Monday, energy shares dipped by 0.70 percent. Meanwhile, top losers in the sector included TravelCenters of America LLC TA, down 18 percent, and Alon USA Energy, Inc. ALJ, down 8 percent. Top Headline The Fresh Market Inc TFM agreed be acquired by Apollo Global Management LLC APO for $28.50 per share in cash. In an approximately $1.4 billion in cash buyout, shareholders are set to receive $28.50 per share. This calculates to an approximately 53 percent premium over the February 10 closing price and an approximately 24 percent premium over last Friday's closing price. Equities Trading UP GW Pharmaceuticals PLC- ADR GWPH shares shot up 133 percent to $89.58 after the company announced positive Phase III data on Epidiolex. The study found that the drug significantly reduced seizures in children suffering from Dravet Syndrome, a condition for which there are currently no FDA-approved treatments. Shares of Zynerba Pharmaceuticals Inc ZYNE got a boost, shooting up 145 percent to $20.64. Zynerba reported a Q4 loss of $0.62 per share on revenue of $49,000. 3D Systems Corporation DDD shares were also up, gaining 26 percent to $14.60. 3D Systems reported Q4 adjusted earnings of $0.19 per share on revenue of $183.4 million. Equities Trading DOWN NQ Mobile Inc (ADR) NQ shares dropped 16 percent to $3.88 after the company issued an update on the FL Mobile divestment. NQ Mobile is expected to report Q4 financial results on March 21, 2016. Shares of Harte Hanks Inc HHS were down 19 percent to $2.95. Harte Hanks entered into a new $110 million credit facility over 5 years. TravelCenters of America LLC TA was down, falling around 18 percent to $7.75. TravelCenters of America reported a Q4 loss of $0.04 per share on revenue of $1.35 billion. Commodities In commodity news, oil traded down 3.43 percent to $37.18, while gold traded down 1.79 percent to $1,236.80. Silver traded down 0.99 percent Monday to $15.45, while copper fell 0.09 percent to $2.24. Eurozone European shares closed mostly higher today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 rose 0.71 percent, the Spanish Ibex Index rose 0.57 percent, while Italy's FTSE MIB Index fell 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the German DAX climbed 1.62 percent, and the French CAC 40 surged 0.31 percent, while U.K. shares rose 0.57 percent. Economics There were no major US economic releases Monday.
