reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings. Check Point posted GAAP net income of $186 million, or $0.98 per share, compared to $194 million, or $0.99 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Excluding one-time items, Check Point earnings surged to $1.07 per share, from $0.98 per shares, in the year-ago period. Its revenue climbed 9% to $421 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.05 per share on revenue of $416 million. Cash flow from operations surged to $210 million from $58 million. During the fourth quarter of 2014, Check Point repurchased 2.6 million shares at a total cost of $195 million. The company's board authorized an increase its overall share repurchase programme by 50%. "We completed the year on a high note, with revenues and EPS at the upper-end of our projections. Our data center and small business solutions produced strong results, underscoring our architecture's ability to address the security needs of customers of any size. Software blades continued to deliver strong growth as more customers adopted our advanced threat prevention technologies,” said Gil Shwed, founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Check Point Software Technologies. Check Point shares fell 2.66% to close at $77.08 yesterday.
