J.B. Hunt Transport Services
JBHT reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter earnings.
The Lowell, Arkansas-based company reported a quarterly profit of $102.4 million, or $0.87 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $89.5 million, or $0.75 per share.
Its revenue rose 12% to $1.6 billion. However, analysts were estimating a profit of $0.84 per share on revenue of $1.59 billion.
Operating income for the quarter surged to $172 million from $151 million.
The company's intermodal segment revenue climbed 8.3% to $963.6 million in the quarter, while operating earnings rose 5.9% to $125 million. Dedicated contract services segment revenue rose 13% to $361 million, while operating income gained 17% to $34.3 million.
Integrated capacity solutions segment revenue rose 35% to $185 million, while operating income jumped 197% to $ 8.4 million. Truck (JBT) segment revenue fell 1% to $96 million, while operating income climbed 569% to $4.3 million.
J.B. Hunt shares closed at $71.30 yesterday.
