FB announced its plans to buy popular messaging service WhatsApp for $19 billion in cash and stock. Facebook will pay $12 billion in stock and $4 billion in cash, plus $3 billion in restricted stock units, to buy WhatsApp. Facebook shares declined 2.67% to $66.24 in the after-hours trading session.

DTV to report its Q4 earnings at $1.28 per share on revenue of $8.47 billion. DIRECTV shares climbed 1.45% to $74.00 in after-hours trading.
