UPDATE: NRG Energy Q2 Net Profit Falls 48%

NRG Energy

reported a 48% drop in its second-quarter profit. NRG's quarterly profit fell to $130 million, or $0.39 per share, from $251 million, or $1.08 per share, in the year-ago period. Its operating revenue climbed 35% to $2.93 billion. However, analysts were estimating a profit of $0.23 per share on revenue of $2.29 billion. NRG's operating margin shrank to 10.1% from 18.3%. NRG shares closed at $26.90 yesterday.
