UPDATE: CNA Financial Posts Rise In Q1 Profit

reported a rise in its second-quarter net income. CNA's quarterly net profit surged to $194 million, or $0.72 per share, versus a profit of $166 million, or $0.62 per share, in the year-earlier quarter. Its operating income rose to $204 million, or $0.75 per share, versus $152 million, or $0.56 per share. Analysts were projecting earnings of $0.63 per share. CNA declared a quarterly dividend of $0.20 per share. CNA shares closed at $34.47 on Friday.
