Shares of SolarCity SCTY shed over 8% in the after-hours session Wednesday after the company posted earnings that fell below Wall Street's expectations.
For the fourth-quarter, SolarCity reported a loss per share of $1.10 (analysts were looking for a loss of $0.44 per share). Revenue was similarly poor: The company posted a revenue figure of $25.30 million, more than the $36.67 million that was anticipated.
Wednesday had been a strong day for SolarCity -- shares jumped nearly 4%. Other solar names also enjoyed a move higher, such as First Solar FSLR which rallied over 3%.
Shares of SolarCity closed on Wednesday at $19.27. In the after-hours session, shares were trading near $17.60.
