Honda Motor Co (NYSE: HMC) posted a rise in its earnings in the October-December quarter, but lowered its outlook for the full year.

Honda's quarterly net profit surged to Y77.4 billion, from Y47.66 billion, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting a profit of Y104.95 billion.

For the fiscal year through March, the company lowered its profit forecast to Y370 billion.

Honda shares fell 0.26% to $38.00 in after-hours trading.
