UPDATE: Helen of Troy Posts 15% Surge In Q3 Profit, Lowers FY13 Revenue Forecast

reported a 15% rise in its fiscal third-quarter earnings. Helen of Troy cut its revenue view for the year to $1.278 billion to $1.3 billion, versus its earlier forecast of $1.3 billion to $1.325 billion. Its quarterly profit surged to $37.7 million, or $1.18 per share, from $32.9 million, or $1.04 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue climbed 11% to $374.6 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.13 per share on revenue of $379 million. Helen of Troy's gross margin rose to 39.6% from 39.3%, while selling, general and administrative expenses climbed 11%. Helen of Troy shares closed at $33.53 yesterday.
