Total SA TOT reported a 20% rise in its third-quarter profit.
Total's quarterly adjusted net profit surged to 3.35 billion euros, versus EUR2.80 billion, in the year-ago period. Its adjusted net profit in dollars rose 6% to $4.19 billion, from $3.96 billion. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of EUR3.08 billion.
Its output fell to 2.27 million barrels of oil equivalent a day in the quarter, from 2.32 million barrels of oil equivalent a day.
Total shares closed at $50.04 on Friday.
