Genworth Financial GNW posted a profit in the second quarter.
Genworth posted a quarterly profit of $76 million, or $0.16 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $136 million, or $0.28 per share.
Its revenue fell around 5% to $2.52 billion, while premiums declined 11% to $1.3 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $0.18 per share on revenue of $2.52 billion.
Its total claims and expenses dropped 15% to $2.36 billion.
Genworth shares gained 6.55% to $5.37 in after-hours trading.
