Nissan Posts Surge In Q4 Net Profit, Projects Rise In Fiscal-Year Profit

Nissan Motor Co (OTC: NSANY) reported a rise in its net profit in the January-March quarter.

Nissan's quarterly net profit climbed to Y75.34 billion, from Y30.77 billion, in the year-ago quarter. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of Y68.5 billion.

Nissan's sales surged 15% to Y2.711 trillion from Y2.351 trillion. Its operating profit climbed 33% to Y118.08 billion from Y88.61 billion.

For the current fiscal year through March, Nissan projects its net profit to rise 17% to Y400 billion. It expects its sales to gain 9.5% to Y10.30 trillion.

Nissan shares closed at $19.65 yesterday.
