Smith & Nephew Q1 Net Profit Rises 3%

Smith & Nephew PLC

reported a 3% surge in its first-quarter net profit. Smith & Nephew's quarterly net profit climbed to $161 million, from $156 million, in the year-ago period. Its revenue came in flat at $1.08 billion. Smith & Nephew's earnings per share, excluding some items, climbed to 19.5 cents from 18.4 cents. Smith & Nephew shares closed at $48.96 yesterday.
