EDF Posts Surge In 2011 Net Profit

Electricite de France SA

posted a strong rise in its 2011 net profit. Electricite de France's net profit surged to 3.01 billion euros ($3.92 billion), versus €1.02 billion in 2010. Its sales dropped to €65.3 billion from €65.32 billion. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of €3.3 billion. Electricite de France also proposed a dividend of €1.15 a share for 2011. Electricite de France shares closed at $4.96 yesterday.
