Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS) reported a drop in its fourth-quarter profit. Goldman Sachs' quarterly profit declined to $1.01 billion, or $1.84 per share, from $2.39 billion, or $3.79 per share, in the year-ago period. Its total net revenue fell to $6.05 billion, from $8.64 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.28 per share on revenue of $6.73 billion.

State Street Corp (NYSE: STT) reported a strong rise in its fourth-quarter net income. State Street's quarterly net income climbed to $371 million, or $0.76 per share, from $81 million, or $0.16 per share, in the year-ago period. Its adjusted earnings came in at $0.93 per share. Its revenue surged to $2.32 billion from $2.04 billion. However, analysts were expecting of $0.94 per share on revenue of $2.41 billion.

Fastenal Co (NASDAQ: FAST) reported a rise in its fourth-quarter profit. Fastenal's quarterly net income climbed to $87.5 million, or $0.30 per share, from $65.2 million, or $0.22 per share, in the year-ago period. Its sales surged around 22% to $697.8 million. However, analysts were projecting earnings of $0.30 per share on revenue of $694.3 million.

Bank of New York Mellon Corp (NYSE: BK) reported a 26% drop in its fourth-quarter net income. Bank of New York Mellon's quarterly net income declined to $500 million, or $0.42 per share, from $673 million, or $0.54 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue fell to $3.54 billion from $3.75 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.54 per share on revenue of $3.75 billion.

WNS Holdings Limited (NYSE: WNS) reported a decline in its third-quarter profit. WNS now expects full-year adjusted revenue of $391 million to $393 million, versus its earlier forecast of $388 million to $404 million. Analysts were expecting revenue of $397.13 million. WNS' quarterly adjusted earnings dropped to $0.27 per ADS, from $0.40 per ADS, in the year-ago period. Its revenue surged 4.9% to $97.2 million. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.25 per ADS on revenue of $97.48 million.

U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) reported a 38% rise in its fourth-quarter net income. U.S. Bancorp's quarterly earnings attributable to holders rose to $1.31 billion, or $0.69 per share, from $951 million, or $0.49 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue gained 8.1% to $5.1 billion, versus $4.72 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.63 per share on revenue of $4.76 billion. U.S. Bancorp's net interest income surged 7% to $2.67 billion. The provision for credit losses declined 46% to $497 million.

Adtran Inc (NASDAQ: ADTN) reported its Q4 EPS at $0.48 on revenue of $175.3 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.46 per share on revenue of $174.71 million.

PNC Financial Services Group Inc (NYSE: PNC) reported a decline in its fourth-quarter profit. PNC Financial's quarterly profit dropped to $493 million, or $0.85 per share, from $820 million, or $1.50 per share, in the year-earlier period. Excluding one-time items, PNC Financial earned $1.39 per share. Its revenue declined to $3.5 billion from $3.9 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.44 per share on revenue of $3.52 billion.

ASML Holding NV (NASDAQ: ASML) reported a 30% fall in its fourth-quarter net profit. ASML's quarterly net profit dropped to EUR285 million, from EUR407 million, in the year-ago period. Its sales declined to EUR1.21 billion from EUR1.52 billion. In 2011, ASML reported a net profit of EUR1.47 billion on sales of EUR5.65 billion. ASML booked new orders worth EUR710 million in the fourth quarter, versus EUR514 million, in the earlier quarter.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (NYSE: TSM) reported a 22% drop in its fourth-quarter net profit. TSMC's quarterly net profit fell to NT$31.58 billion (US$1.06 billion), from NT$40.72 billion. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of NT$30.92 billion. TSMC's revenue declined 4.9% y/y to NT$104.71 billion, from NT$110.14 billion. The company earlier projected revenue of NT$103 billion to NT$105 billion.
