American Capital's NAV Increased By 5% During Q3 (ACAS)

American Capital, Ltd. ACAS reports Q3 earnings of $0.17 versus consensus of $0.16. The company's net asset value per shares increased to $9.59 during the quarter, representing a 5% increased sequentially. "Our NAV per share grew by $0.44 for the quarter and $1.79 over the last year to $9.59," said Malon Wilkus, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "That is a 19% annualized return on equity for the quarter and 27% total return since the lowpoint of our valuation in Q2 of 2009. We believe the economy is continuing to recover, which should allow our portfolio to improve and for American Capital to experience continued growth in our book value. We invested $63 million during the quarter, including closing three accretive add-on acquisitions for portfolio companies. There are a considerable number of mezzanine and second-lien investment opportunities that we expect will translate into investments over the next year, as the volume of mergers and acquisitions increases." Shares of ACAS are lower in the after-hours by 0.73%.
