U.S. stocks traded lower, with the Dow Jones falling around 50 points on Monday. Here are some big stocks recording gains in today’s session.

National Western Life Group, Inc. NWLI shares jumped 13.8% to $474.69 after the company inked a definitive merger deal with Prosperity Life Group for about $1.9 billion in an all-cash transaction.

Northrop Grumman Corporation NOC surged 10.7% to $468.58 as defense stocks gained amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.

WW International, Inc. WW climbed 9.9% to $11.47.

General Dynamics Corporation GD climbed 8.1% to $237.64 as defense stocks gained amid ongoing Israel-Hamas warfare.

Lockheed Martin Corporation LMT gained 7.8% to $432.03 amid conflict in the Middle East.

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. LHX climbed 7.6% to $176.37 amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. KTOS gained 7.1% to $16.21.

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. HII climbed 6.9% to $216.55.

Callon Petroleum Company CPE rose 6.8% to $35.94 as the Israel-Hamas conflict caused oil supply uncertainty.

Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc. PTEN gained 6.7% to $13.15 after Citigroup upgraded the stock from Neutral to Buy and raised its price target from $15 to $18.

Canadian Natural Resources Limited CNQ rose 6.4% to $65.32 as the Israel-Hamas conflict caused oil supply uncertainty.

Mercury Systems, Inc. MRCY gained 5.5% to $38.32.

Halliburton Company HAL jumped 5.1% to $40.66. Halliburton Company and Core Laboratories Inc. CLB announced a strategic alliance aimed at expediting the delivery of comprehensive digital rock data solutions in the U.S.
