Snapchat Spectacles, Pokémon Go, Others Win Big At TechCrunch's Crunchies 2017 Awards

TechCrunch hosted its 10th annual "Crunchies Award" ceremony on Monday. The event awards, recognizes and celebrates the hottest startups, internet and technology innovations of the year.

Here is a list of the 10 winners.

1. Venture Capitalist Of The Year: Kirsten Green

Kirsten Green is the founder of Forerunner Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm that invests in promising commerce and retailing companies.

2. Angel Investor Of The Year: Naval Ravikant

Naval Ravikant, the CEO and co-founder of AngelList, invested in 88 companies since 2007. He also sits on the board of directors of both Uber and Twitter Inc TWTR.

3. Hardware Of The Year: Snapchat Spectacles

Snap, Inc. the parent company of the social media app Snapchat, changed its name last year to incorporate the fact that it now sells a hardware companion to the app called Spectacles. Spectacles is essentially a pair of glasses that can capture video and can upload directly to the Snapchat app.

4. TechCrunch Include Award: Project Include

The award was handed to the organization or individual that has best advanced inclusion in technology. The winner, Project Include, provides resources for CEOs to maximize the input from underrepresented groups of workers.

5. Best Technology: CRISPR

The best new technology is CRISPR and is an acronym for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats.

6. Social Impact: Kapor Center For Social Impact

The Kapor Center for Social Impact is tasked with making the entire technology ecosystem more diverse and inclusive.

7. Best App: Pokémon Go

Niantic's "Pokémon Go" app was the fastest game to reach the $500 million revenue mark and took the world by storm last summer.

8. Founder Of The Year: Jeff Lawson

Jeff Lawson is the CEO of Twilio Inc TWLO, one of the hottest IPOs in recent memory.

9. Best Startup Video: Snapchat Spectacles

Snap took home its second award for its impressive advertising video, which introduces its newest hardware technology.

10. Hot New Startup: Otto

Otto is an autonomous startup that develops technology that can transform a truck to an autonomous driving vehicle.
