Wall Street's M&A Chatter From January 31

The following are the M&A deals, rumors and chatter circulating on Wall Street for Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

Dish Acquires from Echostar

The Deal:

DISH Network Corp DISH and EchoStar Corporation SATS announced have executed an agreement that will transfer certain EchoStar assets and operations, including its EchoStar Technologies hardware and software development group, its national and regional uplink business, its managed fiber backhaul network serving all U.S. DMAs and its OTT development group to DISH in exchange for DISH's 80 percent economic interest in Hughes Retail Group held in the form of a tracking stock.

Dish will also receive the 10 percent stake in Sling TV held by EchoStar, wireless spectrum licenses covering four markets in the 28 GHz band and certain real estate assets

The transaction is expected to close in Q1 of 2017.

Dish closed Tuesday at $59.17, down $0.17.

Hearing Renewed Takeover Chatter in Salesforce Involving Google

The Rumor:

Shares of Salesforce.com, inc. CRM spiked to a high of $80 following renewed takeover chatter with Google mentioned as the potential buyer. A report from Arete indicated Google could acquire Salesforce for $105 per share.

There has been heavy call buying in Salesforce over the past two weeks.

Salesforce closed at $79.10 on Tuesday, up $0.39.

3D Systems Acquires NextDent; Terms Not Disclosed

The Deal:

3D Systems Corporation DDD announced it acquired the provider of dental materials, Vertex-Global Holding. Terms were not dislcosed.

3D Systems closed at $16.49 on Tuesday, up $0.08.

Roche May Sell Diabetes Unit

The Rumor:

Roche Holding AG RHHBY is considering a potential sale of its diabetes-care business for as much as $5 billion, among other options, according to sources as reported by Bloomberg. A partial sale of the business or a spinoff was also an option, sources said.

A representative for Roche declined comment on the rumor.

Roche closed at $29.96 on Tuesday, up $0.47.
