You Can Now Book An Uber Directly In Google Maps

Alphabet Inc GOOG GOOGL is ringing in the new year with a great new addition to Google Maps, allowing users to book an Uber or Lyft directly through Maps.

According to Google's blog post, when opening the updated version of Google Maps under the ride-sharing tab, users will be able to see all the Uber and Lyft options in their area and compare costs. Google's commitment to Uber should come as no surprise, as Uber is one of the company's biggest investments.

The ability to book an Uber ride without ever having to leave Google Maps is a beneficial integration for all parties involved, as Uber and Google look to make it easier than ever to book the ride-hailing service.

How It Works

Once a user is signed into Google, they will be able to do everything on Google maps that was once only available via the app.

The integration with Google Maps enhances the user experience, allowing them to look at information about a destination while en route, utilizing the capabilities of Maps combined with the convenience of Uber.

Google Maps has evolved into much more than just a GPS service; alongside the new Uber Integration, users can now reserve a table at a restaurant, book classes and order delivery all in one place.
