There's Historic Demand For Tonight's National Championship Game Between Alabama And Clemson

With The NCAA College Football National Championship game set to take place tonight in Tampa Bay, tickets for a rematch of last year's Alabama-Clemson’s rematch are seeing remarkable demand on the secondary market. Demand has risen considerably since we covered ticket pricing on tonight's game last week.

“The get-in ticket prices relative to average prices are unlike anything we’ve seen before,” said Jesse Lawrence of TicketIQ, a secondary ticket market aggregator.

Last year at this time, there were approximately 6,800 tickets left on the market and tickets were selling for around $200. Fans who got in saw one of the most exciting games in recent memory, with powerhouse Alabama pulling out a narrow 45-40 victory.

With just 1,700 tickets left on the market, prices for some seats have reached a whopping $3,053 in some spots, making tonight’s game the most expensive game college football playoff game ever.

Part of that undoubtedly has to do with Tampa Bay’s relative proximity to both Clemson and Alabama. Both schools are located within 600 miles from the championship site. On Expedia Inc EXPE, a 4-star hotel in the Tampa area is averaging $452. The cheapest ticket on eBay Inc EBAY's Stubhub is going for $1,750, and tickets cap out at $18,691 for lower level sideline seats.

For those who can manage to get in the matchup is unlikely to disappoint, as Clemson looks to put a halt to Alabama’s undisputed reign on the NCAA.
