Amazon Prime is only available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Japan. However, according to Variety, Amazon Prime Video is expected to launch in India and the announcement could come as soon as Wednesday. Members of Amazon's management team have been busy as of late securing deals with local content producers last month when the country hosted its annual Film Bazaar event.
India is a key market for Amazon to dominate as the company plans to invest a total of $5 billion in the populous country that is still in its early days of e-commerce.
What About The Rest Of The World?
Amazon could be a mere day away from launching its on-demand video service in India, but the rest of the planet is likely wondering when it will be their turn to have access to a major Netflix competitor.
According to TechCrunch, Amazon Prime's remake of "Top Gear" is confirmed for a global audience but sadly that may be all for the time being.
