Chinese Stocks Markets Trading Lower


Chinese stocks fell on Wednesday, as a new poll showed Donald Trump leading the presidential race over Hillary Clinton. The Shanghai Composite dropped 15.2 points, or 0.49 percent to 3,107.23.

The U.S. Federal Open Market Committee is scheduled to announce its policy decision later in the day. The Fed is projected to keep interest rates unchanged.

US stock markets ended lower overnight, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.58 percent, to 18,037.10, the S&P500 index dropping 0.68 percent to 2,111.72, and the Nasdaq Composite slipping 0.69 percent to 5,153.58.

Oil prices traded lower on Wednesday, with the US WTI crude futures on the NYMEX dropping 0.84 percent to trade at $46.28 a barrel.

Top market movers among the Shanghai Composite index are as follows:

  • China Railway Group Ltd shares dropped 2.6 percent.
  • China United Network Communications Ltd slipped 2 percent.
  • China State Construction Engineering Corp Ltd down 1.5 percent.
  • China Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd dropped 1.1 percent
  • Ping An Insurance Group Co of China Ltd fell 1.1 percent
