Twitter Inc TWTR shares were pushing higher after Twitter designer Brian Troy joined Apple Inc. AAPL CEO Tim Cook on stage at Apple’s Mac event to discuss Twitter’s new Apple TV app.
Troy demonstrated the user experience watching NFL games on the app.
Twitter has been looking to expand more into live streaming video content in recent months. The social media giant has signed a series of under-the-radar deals with the NFL, MLB, NHL, Wimbledon and the NBA. In addition, Twitter’s live stream of the second presidential debate reached 2.5 million people.
Earlier on Thursday, Twitter announced that it will be shutting down six-second video-sharing app Vine.
After pushing to $17.79, shares of Twitter traded recently at $17.63, up 1.9 percent on the day.
