Norway's PM Erna Solberg Caught Playing Pokémon Go During Parliamentary Debate

Erna Solberg, Norway’s Prime Minister, was caught playing Pokémon Go in Parliament last Tuesday. Yes, a head of state was trying to catch the Japanese monsters while other members of Parliament were debating issues.

It's no secret that Solberg is a fan of Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) NTDOY’s highly addictive game. In fact, she had already taken some time off to catch a few Pokémon during an official trip to Slovakia.

It seems like Pokémon Go is very popular among high-ranking Norwegian politicians, as other members of Parliament had been caught playing during work in the past.

Norwegian media outlets have reported that Trine Skei Grande, the leader of the country’s Liberal Party was the one talking while Solberg was staring at her phone. Ironically, Grande herself had also been caught playing Pokémon Go in a national security meeting a few weeks ago, so she wasn’t particularly bothered by the PM’s attitude – or at least she didn’t seem so. Actually, the politician Tweeted, “She heard what I said, we ladies can do two things at the same time you know.”

Interestingly, Politico said, “The Government Pension Fund is invested in Nintendo and the sovereign wealth fund has gotten a nice boost from the Pokémon Go craze, earning at least $148 million due to its popularity.”
