This One's For You, Arnold Palmer: Iconic Golfer Dies At 87

Investors and traders woke up to some sad news on Friday. Arnold Palmer, one of the greatest golfers ever, was admitted to the hospital on Thursday for some cardiovascular work. On Sunday, Palmer passed away at the age of 87 due to complications from heart problems.

Palmer, also known as "The King," dominated the golf course since he entered the PGA tour back in 1955. As one of the most recognizable names in sports, he also found success in being a spokesperson for several products, including a beverage he popularized, appropriately called the Arnold Palmer.

According to Palmer's website, the golfer once ordered a beverage he enjoys at home consisting of a iced tea with lemonade at a bar. A woman overhead the drink order and then ordered "that Palmer drink."

Throughout the 1960s, and even to this day, people not only wanted to golf like Palmer, they wanted to be like him in every way possible — including drinking what he drank.

Arnold Palmer Enterprises began bottling the mixture of lemonade and iced tea in 2001. AriZona Beverage took over distribution of the beverage in the mid-2000s, and today there are over 50 individual SKUs of Arnold Palmer available.

AriZona produces over 400 million cans a year of Arnold Palmer beverages and his iconic picture and signature remains on the bottle.
