The Dow rose 0.41 percent to 18,160.37, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 0.86 percent to 5,170.15. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.58 percent to 2,140.15.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Internet Service Providers: This industry slipped 2.5 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was TrueCar Inc TRUE, which fell 4.1 percent. Morgan Stanley downgraded TrueCar from Equal-weight to Underweight.
  • Toy & Hobby Stores: This industry declined 1.5 percent by 11:00 am with Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc BBW moving down 1.5 percent. Build-A-Bear shares have dropped 41.44 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 8.95 percent in the same period.
  • Recreational Vehicles: This industry fell 1.4 percent by 11:00 am ET. Polaris Industries Inc. PII shares dropped 6.7 percent in today's trading. Polaris lowered its FY16 earnings outlook.
  • Foreign Money Center Banks: The industry dropped 1.2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC RBS, which declined 2 percent. Investec downgraded Royal Bank of Scotland from Hold to Sell.
