The following are the M&A deals, rumors and chatter circulating on Wall Street for Friday August 19 through Sunday August 21, 2016: Pfizer Near Deal to Acquire Medivation for $14B The Rumor:
Pfizer PFE is close to a deal to acquire Medivation for about $14 billion or approximately $80 per share, according to sources as reported by Financial Times on Sunday. Celgene CELG, Gilead GILD and Sanofi SNY also were said to be bidding for Medivation. Medivation closed Friday at $67.16, down $0.03. Renewed Chatter of Potential GE Bid for First Solar The Rumor:
Shares of First Solar FSLR rose early on Friday, on renewed takeover chatter of a potential bid from GE GE. Axiom's Gordon Johnson told Benzinga he would not rule out a GE bid for First Solar. A GE spokesperson declined comment on the rumor. First Solar did not immediately respond to a request for comment. First Solar closed at $37.80 on Friday, up $0.28. Lyft Said to Seek Sale The Rumor:
TGhe second largest ride hailing company Lyft, has approached several major potential buyers, according to sources as reported by the NY Times on Friday. The companies approached by Lyft included GM GM, Apple AAPL, Google GOOGL, Amazon AMZN and rivals Uber and Didi Chuxing, the sources said. Talks with GM were said the be the most serious, though the nation's largrest automaker never made a formal bid.
