Twitter could Be Coming To Your Apple TV

Twitter Inc TWTR may have surprised some when it beat out some of its larger internet peers to win an attractive contract with the National Football League (NFL) to stream its matches online. According to The New York Times, Twitter agreed to pay the NFL $10 million to stream 10 games and the two organizations also agreed to split the ad inventory load. By contrast, sources close to the deal told the publication that Facebook Inc FB wanted exclusive rights to sell ads during the games which would have cut out the NFL from its marketers. The first streaming NFL game will take place on September 15 and may even be coming to Apple Inc. AAPL's platform through its Apple TV platform. The Verge took a deeper dive into what a potential Apple and Twitter partnership would look like. The publication noted that NFL content is already available on Apple TV through the NFL Game Pass but getting the Twitter app onto Apple TV would expand Twitter's reach to more people. After all, sports lovers love to watch sports on their TVs, especially compared to on a mobile device or computer. The Verge also suggested that a partnership between Twitter and Apple could complement Apple's desires to fully enter the TV business in the future. In the meantime, adding Twitter's growing catalog of live sporting events to Apple's customers "could be a smart move."
